It has recently been confirmed by the organisers of the annual Dubai 7s tournament that the request for pre-registration for the Veterans 10s tournament by Malta Marauders Veterans rugby team has been received and accepted. According to the organisers, confirmation of the team’s inclusion in this prestigious event should be received in April.
The tournament will take place between Nov 29th and Dec 1st 2012. The event is sponsored by Emirates Airlines, one of the world’s leading sport sponsors.
The ground, which has a capacity of 50,000, is located on the outskirts of Dubai and has quickly become the new home of rugby in the Middle East.
The Veterans 10s is restricted to 16 teams, and last year attracted sides from Russia, Indonesia, England, Eygpt, Abu Dabhi and Belgium, to name but a few. The year before, the world-famous Wooden Spoon Vets took part, and included Fereti Tuilagi in their team.
Anyone wishing to take part, either as a player od spectator, should either email me or go to the Malta Marauders facebook page and register their interest. Please note that players must be 35 or over on 29th Nov 2012.
